Certainly it easily shoved the Timber around! The supplied batteries (2 x 6V 4.5AH batteries) needed only 450mah to recharge to full after out poking around at the pond for the better part of an hour the other night so it is hard to imagine recharge being needed during a day at the lake. The little boat seems to have quite a bit of power. Here is a side by side with my Timber out on her floats for the first time. Steve also reported that the Hardware Kit was quite complete and had pretty much everything needed minus the radio system (receiver and transmitter needed).

Here is the big launch.įrom Steve’s description, the little tug went together quickly and fairly easily. I think Steve put it all together in just the last couple weeks. Now, about 6 months later, the little tug boat has been assembled and prettied up for its big debut. He had the idea of building up the Tugster for use in aircraft retrieval. One of the items that found its way home with us was the ZippKits “Tugster” tug boat kit, purchased by my friend Steve. Just out of personal preference I added 2" to the bow.During our sojourn to Toledo, Ohio for the annual weak signals show many of us picked up some new toys. Pic 1 has the Indiana wheelhouse on top of the Ky cabin and I agree that it is out of proportion. The aircraft dudes would call this a "cartoon" scale. If you don't like those proportions then you just don't like the kit design which is ok. As far as wind, for a non competition boat what big deal is the wind? And FWIW pics 2 and 6 show the KY wheelhouse and Ky cabin. As long as the boat doesn't roll too much in a turn the taller cabin should be no issue. The weight of the additional cabin is minimal and can be offset with ballast which I have probably already done with twin motors and batteries. I grew up on the Ohio River back in the 50's and watched these full length cabin tows run the river. The appeal to me was the full cabin with wheelhouse.

My suggestion? Lose the cabin in it's tall form. Sound Sailor's pic 3 is very pleasing to my eye. A tall long cabin will more than likely make the hull decidedly wind-set. Sound Sailor gave good advice regarding taller profiles. To my eye, pics 1, 2, & 6 show a cabin structure out of proportion (height-wise) to the hull. In picture "D", I just haven't glued on the 60 degree goose neck, it's a single smoke stack. In pictures "A" and "B" I really haven't figured out what kind of smoke stack I want to use, stock or something a little different. I have taken quite a few pictures though. In case you were wondering, I was considering doing a build on this one but it's not a really popular model. No prizes here, I just need help with your opinion I'm kind of leaning towards one, but another looks pretty good too I'm not going to say which ones here but rather ask the opinion of those who happen to look over the next few days. I can't really make up my mind which really looks the best.
Tugster rc zipster how to#
I thought it was about time to put the Tugster together but have run into a dilemma, just how to put the final kit together?īelow are a series of possible combinations of the 'normal' Indiana pilot house arrangement and the Kentucky pilot house with different arrangements between the two. At the end of this Fun Float I was fortunate enough to win a Zipp Tunster along with the Kentucky pilot house, and an ESC. Back in early May, 2016, the Indianapolis Admirals held the 2nd annual Fun Float in Avon, Indiana, this year also inviting the local flying club and electric car club for which there had been a new track built by Hendricks County at the park.
